display by LE. Exposure time here is 1 minute 30 seconds, or 90 seconds. The shutter speed

SELECTING AND OPERATING LENSES
Working with FE, CFE, and TCC Lenses
The FE, CFE, and earlier TCC lenses without shutter have the electronic contact pins to trans-
mit the electronic data between the lens and the camera body. The contact surfaces of these
pins are sensitive to contamination and should not be touched with your fi ngers. Attach the
protective rear cover after removing the lens from the camera.
The operating procedure using the built-in metering system is as follows. Set the lens
manually to the desired aperture value either at one of the engraved fi gures or between two
fi gures for ½ stops. Take a meter reading with the lens aperture either fully open, as it usu-
ally is for maximum screen brightness, or manually closed down. The shutter speed sets itself
automatically (except in M), and changes automatically when you change the lens aperture
setting. I suggest that you look at the display to check the set shutter speed before you take
the picture to ascertain that it is usable for your photographic approach; for example, that it
is short enough for handheld photography. Take the picture.
Working with Shutter Lenses
You can use shutter lenses (not the original C types) on these cameras and you can then
take pictures either with the shutter in the camera or the shutter in the lens (except on 202
model). The camera operation is the same as described previously with shutter lenses set at F
for use of the focal plane shutter. The shutter speeds are automatically set and are indicated in
the viewfi nder. The lens shutter is inoperative, and the viewfi nder image returns instantly after
the picture is made. On all models except the 202, the exposure can also be made with the
shutter in the lens, in which case the camera’s shutter speed ring is set to C and the lens shut-
ter operates normally. Except on CFE lenses, the aperture must be closed down manually for
the reading and the exposure. The shutter speed is indicated on the display, together with the
letters SET, reminding you that you must set this shutter speed manually on the lens. The fi nder
image does not return until the winding crank is turned manually or by the motor winder. The
original C lenses should not be considered for use on any focal plane shutter camera.
Manually Closing Down the Aperture
With shutter lenses (except the CFE type), you must manually close down the lens aperture
for the exposure meter reading, regardless of whether you use the lens or the camera shutter
