FM HD Radio System
connected to the digital transmitter’s output. The 2nd port is the output to the antenna,
but also the return path of the analog signal being imposed upon the digital. A 50 Ohm
resistive load is attached to the 3rd and final port to absorb the analog return signal.
A circulator may be used to improve isolation between the HD and FM transmitter’s
PAs particularly when separate combining using an auxiliary antenna for the digital
signal, or dual-feed or interleaved antenna types.
1.5.6
Remote Control Interface
With the proliferation of serial data improvements in recent years, many comprehensive
remote control systems have been developed for complete monitoring and control of a
transmitter and facility.
1.5.7
Power Monitoring Device
A power averaging monitor device will be necessary to accurately measure and display
the RF signal level. With IBOC systems, the more monitoring stages in use, the better
multiple transmitters and peripheral equipment can be protected.

Platinum ZHD+ Transmitter
This manual also provides system-level information needed to install, operate and
service a HD+ Transmitter at the transmitter location. It will attempt to cover as many
transmitter site-related variables in as great of detail as possible.
Transmitter-specific information will be covered in the ZHD+ Transmitter manual as
listed in table below.
It is assumed that the necessary HD datastream, FM audio, and remote control paths are
in place for connection to the system. A brief mention should be made that proper
