HD Troubleshooting
6.5.1
No or Corrupt HD Output
The HDx-FM exciter will not generate HD carriers
unless one of the two following
condtions is met:
•
The HDx-FM is properly connected to, and configured for the HDE-100
Exporter and the HD Carriers are ENABLED (this is the recommended
method)
- or -
•
The HD carriers can be internally generated by turning on the HD Carriers
(
HDx-FM: Output Setup, HD Carriers, ENABLED
), exgine input to internal
and exgine output to pattern.
NOTE:
Exgine input must be set to exporter and exgine outout set to normal when the
HDE-100 exporter is connected for normal HD operation.
•
It is very important to note that this HD Test Pattern mode must be
DISABLED for normal HD operation once the HDE-100 is properly
connected and configured.
NOTE:
Prior to connecting both the HDx-FM exciter and HDE-100 exporter to your
LAN system, it is strongly recommended that the two units be initially connected
together directly using a standard network, a standard or crossover cable, or
Ethernet switch (not a hub).
See the HDx-FM Exciter manual for additional troubleshooting information. The
indications on the Exciter GUI page; Signal Processing page 3/5 will go a long way to
diagnose poor performance.

Ethernet Troubleshooting
Briefly, when Ethernet is not working or is working poorly, it is best to simplify the
system until you locate the problem. Take advantage of the diagnostic indicator LEDs
on the Ethernet ports and simple test applications like PING and IPCONFIG that are
built into the equipment or available on a laptop or PC.
