SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
ENGINE AIR INTAKE
LOCATION–
The engine air intake filter is accessed by open-
ing the door on the front of the engine compartment (fig. 7.87-1).
REMOVAL–
The engine air intake filter element should only
be removed if it is going to be replaced. After loosening the air
cleaner clamp and removing the end cap, carefully remove the filter
so as to not knock any dust off the filter and into the air intake pas-
sage (fig. 7.87-2). The secondary filter does not need to be replaced
if the primary is intact.
REPLACEMENT–
Your sprayer is equipped with a Filter
Minder ® to notify you of filter element efficiency. Follow its guide-
lines for servicing (see below). At appropriate service time, install
the new element carefully to ensure proper sealing.
CLEANING–
It is not recommended to clean the air intake
filter element. However, a clean damp cloth should be used to wipe
away dust and foreign material from the air cleaner housing.
NOTE:
Do not tap filter to remove dust. Engine damage may occur due
to crushed filter caused by tapping. If Filter Minder
®
indicates
restriction, remove old filter, discard and install new filter only.

FILTER MINDER®
LOCATION–
The Filter Minder® is an air restriction monitoring system
that progressively and constantly indicates how much air filter capacity re-
mains. It is mounted on the foamer bracket (fig. 7.87-3). Check its reading
daily.
SERVICE–
Service the air
cleaner when the Filter Minder®
reads 20” (80% of dirt holding
capacity).
NOTE:
Service the air cleaner before the
yellow indicator reaches the red line of
the Filter Minder
®
.
