Chapter 1 Voice Gateway Overview
1.1 Introduction
H3C VG 10-40/10-41 Voice Gateways (hereinafter referred to as
VG 10-40/10-41) are a new-generation of voice/fax integrated access
devices intended for the industry and Small Office, Home Office
(SOHO). They are functioning to forward analog voice and fax signals
over IP networks via WAN interfaces as well as implement the
broadband access of data services by connecting PCs or Local Area
Networks (LANs) via LAN interfaces.
VGs deliver abundant IP telephony features, such as Voice over
IP (VoIP), Fax over IP (FoIP), call control, resources management,
and maintenance management in addition to multiple coding methods.
They also support DHCP client. With all these features, VGs are
cost-effective.
By far, VGs fall into two models, i.e., VG 10-40 and VG 10-41.
The VGs are available with Ethernet interfaces for the connection to
Wide Area Networks (WANs) and LANs, as well as Foreign eXchange
Station (FXS) interfaces and Foreign eXchange Office (FXO)
interfaces for the connection to regular telephones and Private Branch
eXchanges (PBXs).
