SERVICE LETTER 13-001
Use of unleaded gasoline
It is recommended to keep this letter with the Flight Manual.
Caution
:
This Letter is an explanatory supplement to Flight
Manual and should not replace it.
Always refer to the up-to-date Flight Manual, and particularly to
the Limitations Section.
In order to propose alternatives to AVGAS 100 LL, both in terms of availability
and operating costs, Helicopteres Guimbal has certified grades of unleaded
gasoline for use with the Cabri G2, taking into account evolution of supply chain
in the medium term. Therefore :
- Unleaded AVGAS UL91, designed to replace AVGAS 100 LL in Europe, can
be used with complete interchangeability.
- Unleaded automotive gasoline is approved as an alternate fuel, under
conditions of supply that are commented hereafter, and by respecting additional
limitations that have low impact on practical use.
Caution
:
The pilot should be aware that using automotive gasoline in an
aircraft engages his responsibility to comply with the Flight Manual
requirements, unlike for AVGAS which is a certified grade.
Caution
:
It is the responsibility of the operator to comply with his local
regulation concerning transport, storage and distribution of gasoline.
Note
:
An operator who would choose to use his own tank and to be supplied in
quantity by the petrol company just has to communicate the limitations detailed
in the Flight Manual to his supplier who will usually select the proper fuel.
In case of supply in smaller quantities, and in absence of detailed
characteristics of gasoline used, it is important to well understand Flight Manual
limitations and be able to apply them to select among available fuels, in order to
ensure safe Cabri G2 operation.
