Caution :
Gasoline has a very high isolation capacity and is therefore prone to developing
static electricity that poses a high risk of self-inflammation during handling. This
is particularly serious when the weather is dry.
Never use a plastic container that is not intended to use with gasoline,
Always use appropriate equipment for transferring gasoline, which includes
earthing,
Always earth the helicopter before transferring gasoline,
Always prepare an adequate extinguisher in easy reach when transferring
gasoline.
Caution :
In case the operator stores automotive unleaded gasoline, the fuel
grade should be clearly identified on the container including :
•
Origin of the gasoline,
•
Date of purchasing
•
Winter or Summer grade if known
•
Name of the person responsible for the purchasing.
In some occurrences, confusion has occurred between automotive
gasoline grades because of unaware person purchasing it.
Regardless its grade and quality of storage, automotive gasoline has a limited
life. Check with your supplier the recommended period of use.
If not available, it is recommended that gasoline is used within two months after
storage in a metallic container and one month in a non-metallic container.
Gasoline may cause serious corrosion of metallic containers by the effect of
degreasing and water repelling. Always use appropriate containers in good
condition and appropriate filtering when fueling the helicopter.
Gasoline may attack common plastics on the long term. Use only appropriate
plastic containers if any and consider a limit life.
Counting of gasoline is particularly prone to error due to vaporization and its
aggressiveness. Never trust a counter for your flight planning.
