Linear Defect File Format
The linear defect CSV file consists of a header line indicating the defect detection criteria followed by a
table. The image below is resized to show how the header and table are positioned.
The header line of the file indicates the minium defect length.
The first 3-5 columns indicate the starting and ending location of the defect in terms of the distance along
the file and the lateral offset. The Start Station and End Station Columns are only present if “Use
Stationing Format” is checked in the Project Properties screen. The last four columns show the Latitude
and Longitude of the starting and ending locations of the linear defects. Note, that for scenarios where the
defect extends around a curve, the GPS coordinates may not adequately describe the location of the defect
between the end points.
The KML file drops seamlessly into Google Earth. The linear defects appear as red lines extending along
the length at which they were detected.
