Chapter 7 – Troubleshooting
Why do I get the message “Firebird Not Detected,” even
though some of the controls work?
You may have your game port connector plugged in, but your keyboard
connector unplugged. Or your keyboard port may not be working correctly or
may not be AT- or PS/2-compatible.
Some of the joystick controls work through the keyboard port. If your joystick,
throttle, and joystick buttons are working correctly, but buttons defined as
keystrokes do not work at all, you have a problem with the keyboard connec-
tion.
If this is your situation, make sure that you plug in your keyboard port connec-
tor, and check all the

Firebird 2 requires an AT-compatible or PS/2-type keyboard port. It is not
compatible with most computers that have only a built-in keyboard.
Make sure that the AT or ISA bus speed is set correctly in your computer’s BIOS
setup. It must be set as close to 8 MHz as your setup will allow. Look in your
computer’s manual for instructions, or consult the computer’s manufacturer or
your dealer to assist you.
