Firebird 2 User's Guide
Chapter 3 – Firebird Control Console
... Add Function Window, cont'd.
Button Release:
This section allows you to enter a separate key or keys to
be executed when you release the Firebird 2 button. Use this feature to toggle
between two views in a game, change weapons for a short time, etc. Just press
the button to switch views or weapons, and hold down the button until you
want to switch back.
Joystick Button:
This section of the Add Function window lets you set up the
Firebird 2 button to act as a joystick button (or buttons). You can assign as
many as four joystick buttons to a single Firebird 2 button.
You CANNOT assign keyboard keys and joystick buttons to a
single button.
Standard, Step, Turbo:
These radio buttons allow you to select a control
type for the button.
•
A Standard Firebird 2 button works exactly like a keyboard key. If you
assign a single key to a button, the key is executed immediately when you
press the button, then repeats until you release the button.
There is a slight delay between the initial key and the repeat; you can
control the length of this delay, and the rate of repeat (called “typematic
rate”), in the Edit/Preferences dialog.
