Special Consideration - Transport Configuration Changes
In Transport applications, once a pair of SC-ADT devices are configured and passing data, you
make most port configuration changes at either device separately. Certain configurations: port
mode, port enable, and port IP address, are shared between corresponding ports on either side of a
link. That is, when you change any of these values at one port, the corresponding port will update
itself “on the fly.”
If you want to change the port mode (transport vs terminal server), this configuration sharing can
get in the way. Therefore, you must temporarily interrupt the operation of the port. Perform the
following steps to properly change the port mode.
1. Use the
chat call
command to notify another users that you are intentionally disabling
Chapter 5, Additional Features
for information on the Chat function.
2. Disable the port to be reconfigured by typing:
configure ports disable port
[n]
or all
3. Clear the configuration on any transport ports to be configured by typing:
clr-tport port
[#]
or
all
4. The following system message appears:
SYS MSG: Clear Config transport for port
[#]
5. Reconfigure the port(s) as desired.
6. Check the settings by doing the following:
•
Type
show config
to display the current configuration of the SC-ADT.
•
Test your network by pinging from your PC/workstation at the NOC to equipment at the
remote office, and vice-versa.
•
Use the ping utility to check connectivity
7. Enable the port to be reconfigured by typing:
configure ports enable port
[n] or
all
Note
To configure additional features available in the SC-ADT, refer to
