MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Â
Ensure the area is sufficiently ventilated before
starting the telescopic handler.
Â
Wear clothes suitable for the maintenance of the
telescopic handler. Avoid wearing jewelery and
loose clothes. Tie and protect your hair, if neces-
sary.
Â
Stop the engine and remove the ignition key, when
service is necessary.
Â
Read the operator's manual carefully.
Â
Carry out all repairs immediately, even if the
repairs are minor.
Â
Repair all leaks immediately, even if the leak is
minor.
Â
Make sure that the disposal of materials and of ser-
vice parts is carried out in total safety and in a eco-
logical way.
Â
Be careful of the risk of burning and splashing
(exhaust, radiator, engine, etc.).
MAINTENANCE
Â
Perform the periodic service (see chapter: 6 -
MAINTENANCE) to keep the telescopic handler
in good working conditions. Failure to perform the
periodic service may void the waranty.
LUBRICANT AND FUEL LEVELS
IMPORTANT:
For operation under normal climat-
ic conditions, i.e.: between 5°F and 95°F, correct
types of lubricants in all the systems are provided
from the factory. For operation under more severe
climatic conditions, before starting up, it may be
necessary to drain some or all the systems, and
ensure correct types of lubricants and coolant
properly suited to the ambient temperatures.
Â
Use the recommended lubricants. Never use cont-
aminated lubricants.
Â
Do not fill the fuel tank when the engine is run-
ning.
Â
Only fill the fuel tank in areas specified for this
purpose.
Â
Do not fill the fuel tank to the maximum level.
Â
Do not smoke or approach the telescopic handler
with an open flame, when the fuel tank is open or
is being filled.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
Â
Do not attempt to loosen connections, hoses or any
hydraulic component with the circuit under pres-
sure.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Â
Do not short-circuit the starter relay to start the
telescopic handler. If the forward/reverse shifter is
not in neutral, the telescopic handler will start to
move immediately.
Â
Do not drop metal items on the battery.
Â
Disconnect the battery before working on the elec-
trical system.
WELDING
Â
Disconnect the battery before performing any
welding operations on the telescopic handler.
Â
When carrying out electric welding work on the
telescopic handler, connect the negative cable for
the welding equipment directly to the part being
welded, to avoid high voltage current passing
through the alternator.
WARNING
COUNTER-BALANCE VALVES: For inspec-
tion, see chapter: 6 – MAINTENANCE: D7 -
EVERY 500 HOURS SERVICE. It is hazardous
to change the setting or remove the counter-
balance valves or other safety valves that may
be fitted to the telescopic handler cylinders.
These operations must only be performed by
trained personnel (consult your dealer).
WARNING
HYDRAULIC ACCUMULATORS, which may be
on your telescopic handler, are under pres-
sure and it is hazardous to disassemble them.
This operation must only be performed by
trained personnel (consult your dealer).
