Operation

– Couple the probe to the test object in order to evalu-

ate a flaw echo.

– Select the function 

aSTART

, and set up the A gate

on the flaw echo.

– Vary the gain so that the flaw echo is displayed at

50 % screen height.

– Go to the function group 

AWS

.

– Save the current gain using the function

 INDICA.

 The

current gain is saved. The USM 35X will automatical-
ly determine the values of the AWS variables C and
D. You can then evaluate the rating D using the
corresponding requirements from AWS.
