GCAN-212 user manual
10. Frequently Asked Questions
1. When using the software to connect to GCAN-212, it prompts that the
connection fails/error?
Please check whether the IP address of the software connection is in the same
network segment as GCAN-212, or whether the computer IP is set to a static IP
and is in the same network segment as GCAN-212.
2. Does the CAN bus necessarily need to use 120Ω terminal matching
resistance?
The 120Ω terminal matching resistor is used to absorb end-point reflections
and provide a stable physical link. When performing the self-transmitting and
self-receiving test of a single node, the 120Ω terminal resistance must be
connected to form a loop, otherwise the self-transmitting and self-receiving test
cannot be performed. The GCAN-212 high-performance CAN interface card
has already been connected with a 120Ω terminal resistance.
3. Can one computer install multiple GCAN-212 modules?
The computer can be extended to connect multiple GCAN-212 modules by
connecting to an Ethernet switch (HUB).
4. What is the highest data conversion rate of GCAN-212?
The single CAN channel of GCAN-212 supports CAN bus data conversion up
to 8000 fps. The frame mentioned here refers to the 8-byte data frame in the
standard frame format. If it is less than 8-byte data frame or remote frame, it
may be faster. In addition, the maximum data flow rate will be limited by PC
performance.
5. The CAN status indicator does not light up?
The CAN status indicator is meaningful only when the CAN interface has CAN
data transmission.
6. How to set the communication baud rate of GCAN-212 module?
The software provides a set of commonly used baud rate settings. If you want
to use other special baud rates, please contact the technical support.
7. How many lower-level devices can be connected to GCAN-212 at most?
The maximum number of nodes on the CAN bus conforms to the CAN bus
standard, and the actual number of connections is related to the actual working
environment and baud rate.
8. Does the system enter the standby or sleep state affect the reception?
Will have an impact. At this time, all processing will stop, which may cause the
hardware receiving buffer overflow error at most. If there is a program to open
