STORING
WARNING:
Young children must be supervised that they do not play with the appliance
or any part or accessory of it. When the appliance is not in use, always switch OFF (press
POWER button), and unplug the appliance. Always leave the appliance cool down, before
cleaning or storing the appliance. Only store the appliance where it is protected against
inadmissible strain (e.g. moisture, electric or mechanic shock, frost, direct sunlight) and out
of reach of young children.
CAUTION:
Do not grasp the appliance at the group head, drip tray, bean hopper, or power
cord for moving. Always grasp the appliance at both sides at the bottom of the base for
moving it. Ensure to store the appliance in upright position where it is clean and dry. Do not
place any hard or heavy objects on or in the appliance or any part of it.
Do not open the boiler valves (DESCALE ACCESS) while the appliance is still hot to avoid risk of
scalds and damage. Always allow cooling for at least 1 hour prior to opening the boiler valves.
The power cord may not be knotted, squeezed or bent. Do not pull or strain the power cord.
Note:
When opening the boiler valves, the drip tray will fill with water. Ensure to empty the drip
tray before opening the boiler valves to avoid overflow. We recommend draining both boi-
lers completely before transporting the machine or storing for an extended period of time.
This procedure is also intended as an anti-freeze measure in the event the machine is expo-
sed to extreme cold temperatures.
1. Empty the bean hopper and the grinder. See: ›Cleaning the Burrs‹.
2. Switch OFF the appliance (press POWER button), unplug, and leave cool down complete-
ly (at least 1 hour). Clean the appliance and all parts and accessories (see: ›Care and
Cleaning‹).
3. Empty the water tank and remove the water filter. Then replace the filter holder and lock
the water tank back into position. Empty the drip tray and, thereafter, insert it back into
position. Place a cloth over the drip tray to stop steam escaping.
4. Remove the grey silicone cover on the lower front marked DESCALE ACCESS. Beware of
hot steam and water, while rotating the screws counter-clockwise until the valves are fully
open. For this, use a flat-head screwdriver. As the valves open, steam may be released.
Wait until no more water or steam escapes.
CAUTION:
The drip tray may be hot.
IMPORTANT:
Do not over tighten the screws to avoid damaging the valves.
5. Close both valves by rotating screws clock-wise carefully just until seated. Replace the grey
silicone cover over the valves.
6. The drip tray and the water from the boilers may be hot. Thus, be careful, when emptying
the drip tray. Wipe dry the drip tray and valve outlet. Thereafter, reinsert the drip tray into
position.
7. Grasp the appliance at both sides at the bottom of the base, and place the appliance on
a suitable surface.
8. Lay the power cord loosely around the appliance. You may partly insert the power cord
back into the opening where it comes out of the appliance.
