Operator Controls
operation, press the CONTINUE button. When processing in the Manual mode,
pressing the HOLD button during the Start/Spin operation has no effect because
the spin timer(s) are inactive.
During a Supernatant-Out operation, when processing in both Automatic and
Manual modes, pressing the HOLD button suspends the operation. The hydraulic
pump stops (preventing additional fluid from being expressed from the cell
processing bag), and the SUPER OUT and HOLD lights both illuminate. The
centrifuge continues to spin. To resume the Supernatant-Out operation, press the
CONTINUE button.
During an Agitate/Wash-In operation, when processing in both Automatic and
Manual modes, pressing the HOLD button suspends the operation. The hydraulic
pump stops (if not already in its home position), the centrifuge stops, the selected
valve closes, and the AGITATE WASH IN and HOLD lights both illuminate. To
resume the Agitate/Wash-In operation, press the CONTINUE button. During
processing in the Automatic mode, the minimum agitate timer is suspended when
the HOLD button is pressed. During processing in the Manual mode, the HOLD
button has no effect on minimum agitate time because the minimum agitate timer
is inactive.
CONTINUE
When you press the CONTINUE button, the COBE 2991 resumes the current
operation.
The CONTINUE button is active only when the COBE 2991 is in the Hold
status. It allows the COBE 2991 to continue the operation that was in progress
when the Hold status was initiated. This button is not lighted.
COLLECT/SOV (COBE 2991s With Collect Valve Only)
Use the COLLECT/SOV button to select which valve will open in Tube Load
mode and the Supernatant-Out operation.
Note:
On COBE
2991s produced
with five valves and
a pin-diode program board,
the COLLECT/SOV and
RCD ON/OFF controls are
interlocked toggle switches
rather than buttons.
In Tube Load mode, the COLLECT/SOV button, in conjunction with the VALVE
SELECTOR, is used to open either the collect valve or SOV for loading the cell
processing set. The VALVE SELECTOR must be set to valve V1.
During the Supernatant-Out operation, the COLLECT/SOV button position
determines if the collect valve or the SOV opens, and if the red cell detector (RCD)
is activated or deactivated (Table 3-2). In the COLLECT position, the RCD is
deactivated and supernatant and/or cells are expressed until the maximum volume is
removed or the selected Supernatant-Out volume is reached. In the SOV position,
the RCD is activated and supernatant is expressed until RBCs are detected or the
selected Supernatant-Out volume is reached.
