COBE 2991 Variations
COBE 2991 Variations
The COBE 2991 has been in production for many years, and during this time it has
evolved to incorporate new features for enhanced flexibility and ease of use. Because
this manual addresses all variations of the COBE 2991, a brief overview is necessary
to introduce the changes that have been incorporated over time.
Serial Number 2000 and Above
COBE 2991s with serial numbers of 2000 and above have the following features:
• LED program board with secondary audible alarm
• Collect valve with interlocked COLLECT/SOV and RCD OFF/ON control
• Centrifuge cover interlock latch
• Maximum pump restore rate of 700 mL
Below Serial Number 2000
COBE 2991s with serial numbers lower than 2000 have the following features:
• Pin-diode program board with spin timers
• Four valves (no collect valve)
• Maximum pump restore rate of 450 mL
In addition to the above features, some COBE 2991s with serial numbers lower
than 2000 may have been built with the following:
• Collect valve (5th valve) with interlocked COLLECT/SOV and
RCD OFF/ON control
• Centrifuge cover interlock latch
Upgrading Machines Below Serial Number 2000
COBE 2991s (serial numbers lower than 2000) with a pin-diode program board
can be upgraded to an LED program board by a qualified service representative
(charges may apply). However, it is
not possible to retrofit a collect valve, an RCD
OFF/ON switch, a centrifuge cover interlock latch, or a 700 mL pump restore rate
control.
