5.1.5. TIG DC PROCESS – PULSED ARC.
This type of arc has the purpose of obtaining a greater control over the welding. The result is a succession of 2 intensities
that overlap as a cord, it guaranteeing in each impulse the penetration and partial solidification of it.
The background intensity (Control Ib in cycle parameters) serves to preheat and condition the bath, while the peak
(Control I
₂
) will cause the material to melt. The application of the pulsed current allows to adapt the heat input to the
demands of welding, marked by the position, type of joint and thickness.
The control of frequency pulse (Control Fpulse) set the number of times the intensity change per second is performed.
For example: a low frequency, will bring us more heat and penetration, highlighting the cord water. On the other
hand, a high frequency will bring less heat and deformation to the joint, marking less water.
