Press the adapter firmly into the adapter connector.
Ê
Push down on the blue PCI-X retaining bar to stabilize the adapter.
Ê
Close the tab; then, push down on the orange adapter retention latch
until it clicks into place, securing the adapter.
Ê
Connect any required cables to the adapter.
Ê
Reinstall the top cover and slide the server into the rack.

Replacing a hot-plug PCI/PCI-X adapter

CAUTION!
If a PCI/PCI-X adapter is removed and not replaced with a new adapter,
make sure that the extension-slot cover engages correctly it its location
due to cooling, to comply with applicable EMC regulations (regulations
on electromagnetic compatibility) and to protect against fire.

Only PCI/PCI-X adapters of the same type and with the same settings
may be replaced. If the adapters do not match, the new adapter will not
be commissioned.
Ê
Slide the server out of the rack until the slide rails lock into place.
Ê
Remove the server cover (see “Removing the Cover” on page 108).
Ê
Disconnect any cables from the adapter.
For the following steps, see figure 29 on page 122:
Ê
Open the blue PCI-X retaining bar by lifting the front edge.
Ê
Push the orange adapter retention latch toward the rear of the server and
open the tab. The power LED for the slot turns off.
Ê
Remove the expansion-slot cover.
Ê
Carefully grasp the adapter by its top edge or upper corners, and pull the
adapter from the server.
Ê
To install the replacement PCI/PCI-X adapter, proceed in the same way as
described on page 122.
