7.2 Network Connection Troubleshooting
371
When checking the network connection status by a Ping test, the following results are
possible.
Follow each action described below.
■
Example of a response
IPv4 address:
Reply from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX : bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=255
Reply from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX : bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=255
Reply from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX : bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=255
Reply from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX : bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=255
IPv6 address:
Reply from XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX : time <1ms
Reply from XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX : time <1ms
Reply from XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX : time <1ms
Reply from XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX : time <1ms
■
Details
The response from the ping destination address is normal.
■
Details
There is no response from the Ping target.
There may be problems in the hardware transmission path. For example, the LAN cable may
have become disconnected during the ping test.
■
Action
The specified Ping target might not be correct. Check that the Ping target IP address, host
name or FQDN is correct.
If an IP address that does not exist is specified, the following applies:
For an IPv4 address:
If the IP address that you specified belongs to the same segment as the scanner, the value
is shown as "Lost=0 (0% loss)".
If the IP address that you specified belongs to a different segment from the scanner, the
value is shown as "Lost=4 (100% loss)".
For an IPv6 address:
The value is shown as "Lost=4 (100% loss)".
The network transmission mode may differ from the connection target. In
Network Advanced Settings" (P.108)
, change [Link Speed/Duplex Mode] from "Auto-
Negotiation" to a fixed mode.
If the Ping target is correct and the network transmission method is appropriate, refer to
"Failure to Connect to a Server Using Its IP Address" (P.376)
for further solutions.
Check the status of the LAN cable or replace the LAN cable and try again.
If a HUB device is used for connection, change the connection port of the LAN cable and try
again.
The four lines below are shown as a response from the ping test.
IPv4 address:
Reply from (destination IPv4 address) :bytes=32 time<(time) ms
TTL=(TTL value)
IPv6 address:
Reply from (destination IPv6 address) :time<(time) ms
"Ping statistics" shows
"Lost=4 (100% loss)".
