Basic Operation
•When splicer indicates following message, splice loss may be high.
“Arc discharge is not stable. Electrodes should
be stabilized to reform the arc discharge.”
Load prepared SM fibers onto splicer in order to stablize electrodes.
After completeing it, re-splice fibers.
When there is an environmental change (altitude), we recommend you
to perform arc discharge proofreading.
• Splice point sometimes looks a bit fatter than other parts. This is considered a
normal splice, and does not affect splice loss.
• To change threshold for estimated splice loss or fiber angle, see [Splice Mode]
page 58 for details.
• Error messages, such as "Estimated splice loss", "Splice angle", "Fat", "Thin"
and "Bubble" can be ignored. This function can be set to "disabled". See
[Splice Settings] page 84 for detail.
