DIAGNOSTIC LINKS - EEC-V
A vehicle’s computer reads information from sensors and
actuators and then uses this information to control electrical
functions in the engine and other parts of the vehicle. NGS
allows you to link with the vehicle’s computer to view
information as it processes.
There are different types of diagnostic links available when
servicing a vehicle.
NGS currently supports the following links:

SCP
l
ISO9141
l
STI/STO
l
DDL
DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK—MCN
DIAGNOSTICS
In version 10.0 of the NGS software, the first thing that
appears when you select Diagnostic Data Link is a test of the
Multiplex Communications Network (MCN) of any vehicle so
equipped.
YOU MUST CONDUCT THIS TEST ON ALL VEHICLES
EQUIPPED WITH MCN.
If the vehicle does not pass this test, the network must be
diagnosed and repaired before you proceed to any other tests.
Consult the applicable Workshop Manual, (section 18-04 or
418-00), for instructions regarding diagnosing and repairing an
MCN network.
If the vehicle passes the test, press EXIT (or CANCEL) to
continue.
