ABS: Anti-Lock Brake System.

Absolute Pressure: The pressure referenced to a perfect vacuum.

A/C: Air Conditioning is a vehicular accessory system that modifies the passenger compartment air by
cooling and drying the air.

ACC: Air Conditioning Clutch signal commands status of the A/C clutch.

ACCS: Air Conditioning Cyclic Switch signal indicates the status of the A/C cyclic switch.

ACD: Air Conditioning Demand signal indicates status of the A/C demand switch.

ACON: Air Conditioning On signal indicates status of the A/C system.

ACP: Air Conditioning Pressure signal indicates pressure in the A/C system.

ACPSW: Air Conditioning Pressure Switch is used for additional A/C system pressure control. Also
referred to as the refrigerant containment/fan function switch.

ACT: Air Charge Temperature sensor.

Actuator: A mechanism for moving or controlling indirectly instead of by hand.

A/D: Analog to Digital converter.

Adaptive Fuel Monitor: OBDII required monitor to flag adaptive fuel adjustments that may cause
emissions to exceed California ARB limits.

Adaptive Strategy: The ability of the PCM to adapt to hardware, aging and other variables. Also
permits PCM to substitute learned values for a failed sensor in FMEM. Used for fuel system, idle air
control and transmission adjustments.

AIR: Secondary AIR Injection is a pump driven system for providing secondary air.

AIRB: Secondary AIR Injection Bypass solenoid vents secondary air to atmosphere.

AIRD: Secondary AIR Injection Diverter solenoid diverts secondary air to either the catalyst or the
exhaust manifold.

Ambient Temperature: Temperature of the air surrounding an object.

AM1: Air Management l Secondary AlR Bypass.

AM2: Air Management 2—Secondary AlR Diverter.

AODE: Automatic Overdrive Electronic transmission.

A4R70W Automatic Overdrive Electronic Wide-Ratio transmission.
