The TRIG (Trigger) Menu
The TRIG menu shown below allows you to set the external trigger to either Channel 1 or
Channel 5 and select the number of divisions that establish the peak to peak value of the
wave form.

If you have the 5-channel option, the following describes each item in the TRIG menu:
•
TRIG CH
Allows you to select either Channel 5 (C5) or Channel 1 (C1) as the
external trigger channel, with C5 being the default. When you select one channel as
an external trigger, the other channel becomes a source.
•
TIMEDIV
Allows you to select the trigger settings, with ”off” being the default.
When the trigger is on, the instrument does not allow the signal output and trigger
output to be on the same output. If you change the external trigger from C5 to C1 and
select a trigger setting other than “off,” the Calibrator automatically changes the
source from C1 to C2. This change prevents a conflict between the external trigger
and the source.
If you change the external trigger from C1 to C5 and select a trigger setting other
than “off,” the Calibrator automatically changes the source from C5 to C1.

Oscilloscope Amplitude Calibration Procedure
The following example describes how to use the VOLTAGE menu to calibrate the
oscilloscope’s amplitude gain. During calibration, you need to set different voltages and
verify that the gain matches the graticule lines on the oscilloscope according to the
specifications for your particular oscilloscope. See your oscilloscope manual for the
recommended calibration settings and appropriate gain values.

Perform the following sample procedure to calibrate the vertical gain:
1.
Connect the calibrator to Channel 1 on the oscilloscope, making sure the oscilloscope
is terminated at the proper impedance (1 M
Ω
for this example). Verify that OPR
appears in the Output Display, indicating that the signal is connected.
2.
Key in the voltage level that is recommended for your oscilloscope. For example to
enter 30 mV, press
PMÅs
, then press

.
See “Keying in a
Value” earlier in this chapter.
