Placement and Rack Mounting

Warning
To prevent possible electrical shock, fire, or personal injury, do not restrict access to
the Product mains power cord. The mains power cord is the mains disconnecting
device. If access to the power cord is inhibited by rack mounting, a properly-rated
accessible mains disconnect switch must be provided within reach as part of the
installation.
Place the Product on a bench top or mount it in a standard-width, 24-inch (61-cm) deep equipment
rack. For bench-top use, the Product is equipped with non-slipping, non-marring feet. To mount the
Product in an equipment rack, use the 5560A/5550A/5540A Rack Mount Kit (Y5538). The kit includes
mounting instructions and hardware.

Caution
To prevent damage to the Product, make sure the space around the Product meets
minimum requirements listed below.
The accuracy and dependability of all internal parts of the Product are enhanced by maintaining the
coolest possible internal temperature. Lengthen the life of the Product and enhance its performance by
observing these rules:
• Keep the vents on the Product clear of obstructions (3 inches from nearby walls or rack
enclosures).The fan draws in air from the left side of the Product.
• The exhaust perforations on the right side of the Product must be clear of obstructions.
• The air that enters the Product must be at room temperature: make sure the exhaust air from
another instrument is not directed into the fan inlet.
