Function Menu Common Features and Functions
The Product Function menus share several common features and functions. Use this section of the
manual as a reference for these items. Sections that explain the menus will refer back to this section
where necessary.
Auto Range Versus Locked Range
The option to toggle between locking and unlocking the range is available only for Single Output menu
DCV and DCI functions. The range locking and unlocking is located above and left of the output value
on the main function screen. If the range can be locked/unlocked, it is in white. If the range cannot be
locked, the range is greyed out and does not respond.
When you select
Auto Range
(the default setting), the Calibrator automatically selects the range that
provides the best output resolution. When you select
Locked
, the Calibrator locks the selected range
and will not change ranges when you edit the output, or enter new outputs. Values higher than the
locked range are not allowed. The locked selection is usually made when you do not want range
changes that may cause a small deviation in the output, for example, when checking the linearity of a
given multimeter range.
Guard Softkey
The
Guard
softkey is available for all function menus under the Single Output menu, Dual Output
menu, and Measure menu
functions. This softkey can be toggled between
INTERNAL
and
EXTERNAL
. For more information about guarding, see
Sense Softkey
The
Sense
softkey is available for Single Output menu DCV and ACV functions. This softkey can be
toggled between
INTERNAL
and
EXTERNAL
. In DCV and ACV,
EXTERNAL
is only available for
voltages >120 mV.
