About Fiery XJ Setup
The Fiery XJ+ 525 Color Server fits into a variety of work environments. To prepare
for printing at your site, you need to do some initial configuration to specify the
network environment and the kind of printing you will do.
About Fiery XJ Setup
Setup is required the first time the Fiery XJ is turned on after new system software is
loaded. In this initial Setup, you (or the service technician who loads the software)
choose the language you want to use for Control Panel screens.
Initial Setup from the Control Panel
In initial Setup, you must configure at least Server Setup, Network Setup, and Printer
Setup, in that order, from the Control Panel. Also during initial Setup, you specify
settings needed for the network connection between the Fiery XJ and the Command
WorkStation.
If you don’t configure the remaining Setups, the Fiery XJ uses default settings. These
defaults allow the Fiery XJ to reach the Idle state, but might not allow users to print to
the Fiery XJ. You need to make settings appropriate for the printing environment at
your site.
Making changes to Setup
After initial Setup, you can change Setup options from the Control Panel (page 2-2) or
from Fiery WebSetup or the Command WorkStation (page 3-1). The Operator
password can be set and changed from Fiery WebSetup or the Command WorkStation
only. Most other Setup options can be set from all three interfaces.
Network server setup requirements
On NetWare or Windows NT 4.0 networks, the network servers must be configured
for printing to the Fiery XJ before you enter network settings on the Fiery XJ. The
diagrams on pages 1-5 through 1-10 give chapter references for network server setup.
You need a live network connection so that the Fiery XJ can query the network for
zones, servers, and server-based queues.
