Removing And Replacing The Battery

For the most part you will not need to remove your battery. If you follow the tips
given to manage and extend your battery life on the preceding pages your battery
should last a long time. However there may be times when you are required to
remove, swap or replace the battery. In these cases please follow these instruc-
tions:

1.

Shut the computer down (please see sidebar on 

page 26

 for information 

on hot-swapping the battery).

2.

Remove the palm rest by applying gentle upward pressure with your fin-
gers close to the area around the

 left Alt

 key, and the 

right Ctrl

 key.

3.

Pull the palm rest forward.
