12.5.1 Positioning the patient
The adequate positioning of the patient respect to the device is required to obtain correct measurements.
A steady head position and the correct device-to-
patient distance are obtained by resting the patient’s
head well against the chinrest and forehead band. The patient must look steadily at the fixation point in
the center of the Placido disk.
The correct alignment with the patient’s pupils can be visually checked by the operator referring to the two
lines on the forehead supports (see the red arrows in Fig. 20).

The joystick illustrated in Fig. 21 is the only part the user has to physically control during acquisition. The
button on the top marked “Acquisition button” starts the acquisition of the various measurements.
The thumbwheel marked “Height Regulation” allows adjusting the instrument height according to the
patient’s position.
