Auto Focus
Take the guesswork out of setup and save time on every job with Epilog's advanced
auto focus feature on the Legend. Quick, accurate, and easy to use, the Legend's auto
focus uses the latest in plunger and magnetic technology.
It works on any solid surface, including transparent materials such as glass and
acrylic. It also works with the rotary attachment and our standard three lenses. Focus
is determined at the first point of engraving or cutting to ensure precise focus, even on
uneven surfaces.
Auto focus is standard equipment on all Legend systems. The auto focus uses a
plunger that is attached to the carriage to determine correct focus position. When
auto-focus is activated, the engraving table holding the work-piece moves up until the
work-piece comes into contact with the plunger and pushes the plunger up. The
plunger activates a magnetic sensor and tells the table to move down until the work-
piece is in precise focal position. The motor that moves the table up and down is
equipped with an encoder that tells the motor exactly how far to move the table down
after the magnetic sensor is activated.
Instructions to use the Auto Focus
are outlined below.
1.
Set the Auto Focus on your computer in the print properties window of the
Legend print driver: “yes will enable the auto focus, “No” will disable auto
focus. When a job is started and auto focus has been enabled the table will
automatically move up until the auto focus plunger is activated. The table will
then move down until it is the correct distance from the focus lens. Please be
