The ground attendant shall be facing the Model 800 operator at all times. Every time before the
covering process, the ground attendant and the Model 800 operator shall establish a
deployment plan. As weather conditions may change, for example, these personnel must
discuss the ballast type to be used on that particular cover day, the wind direction, the working
face to be covered and percentage of EC remaining on the loaded roll.
Do not permit untrained or unsupervised personnel to go near
Enviro™ Cover Deployer (ECD) during the operation. Attendants
must be equipped with the standard landfill safety equipment
required by the landfill site.
The following list of safety attire shall be provided to the site personnel for the
operation of EC System:
a)
Safety vest with reflective material
d)
Goggles
b)
Hard hat
e)
Steel-shank and toed Safety
footwear
c)
Gloves
A two-way communication system (if available) can facilitate effective
communication between the Model 800 operator and the ground attendant. It can
contribute to the general safety and effectiveness of the cover operation. If a
communication system not available, a common set of hand signals must be
understood by both the Model 800 operator and the ground attendant.
USE EXTREME CAUTION DURING DEPLOYMENT OF EC
1. Keep yourself visible to the Model 800 operator at all times.
2. Never position yourself between the Ballast Prime Mover and Model 800
system when loading ballast.
3. Always keep a safe distance away from Model 800, allowing for the possible
sudden ECD movement during operation. Increase this distance if visibility is
poor.
4. Always ensure that the lights work on the Morooka and dispensing system are
adjusted/added to suit the needs of the cover operation in night conditions.
The Model 800 operator must be aware of location of the
ground operators at all times.
