Manual defrost by the user
For any manual defrost (e.g. for service purposes), defrost can be initiated using the system centre /
store computer / operator terminal, namely via
"Remote control" - "select case controller (or CAN bus address)" - set 3 Clock - 2 Defrost timer in the
row
to ON or via the host system computer (see operating manual for LDSWin PC
manual defrost
software).
If any defrost (internal controller function or via LDSWin) is initiated and ended or prevented by the
conditions
/
, the complete safe defrost time must have
Defrost on demand End via evaporator sensor
elapsed first until any manual defrost can be initiated again. If any further manual defrost should be
initiated immediately, the previous one
be ended first:
must
Internal controller function: Menu 5 Remote control - select case controller (CAN bus address)
- set 3 Clock - 2 Defrost timer, parameter "manual defrost" (menu 3-2) to OFF.
LDSWin: click on "End defrost" button. The manual defrost can then be initiated immediately.
In all cases, whether the conditions have been met for a defrost will be checked before initiation. These
conditions are:
Evaporator temperature < defrost end temperature
In the case of defrost on demand: Defrost counter = 1
With internal clock: Further defrosting cannot be started until after expiry of the safe defrost time, even if
the defrost has already been terminated via the evaporator temperatures.
A temperature alarm is pending and/or the alarm delay is set to 0 minutes.
The evaporator temperature R1/ R1.1 and/or R1.2 is above the specified setpoint for the
return air.
End of the defrost
The defrost can be ended in 2 ways:
by reaching the defrost end temperature
by expiry of the safe defrost time
If the defrost end temperature is set to "–", the defrost is always ended using the safe defrost time. Then no
alarm is registered in the message list.

Wait time
A wait time between switching off the cooling and switching on the defrost heater can be specified for the
initiation of the defrost. This prevents the defrost heater being operated at the same time as pumping down the
evaporator.
Drip time
Switching on the cooling after the defrost can be delayed by a configurable drip time. The drip time is not
started until the last defrost relay has dropped out. Therefore, defrost drip water can drip from the evaporator
before the cooling starts again.
