The IPNI connection to the network is via fiber optic cables on the IPNI cards front
panel.
Tributary/line card connections to subscribers are via the front panel connectors or
CCP.
5.5.1. SFP
Connection

To connect the SFP:
1. Remove the SFP Optical Transceiver from the anti-static package.
2. Save the package for future use.
3. While holding the SFP Transceiver, carefully slide the SFP Transceiver into the
LC socket, labeled 1…8 Tx Rx and verify that it is mechanically locked in place.
5.5.2.
Fiber Optic Cables

To connect the N.I. Optical cable:
1. Route the fiber optic cable through the fiber guide.
2. Plug it into the SFP connector on the NI card.
3. Connect the other cable side to the Ethernet equipment.
4. For simplex fiber optic cables, make sure the Tx and Rx ports are cross-
connected.
Caution
: Fiber optic cables and assemblies should be treated carefully and kept
clean, see appendix
B.4.2.
5.5.3. GPON
Optical
Cable

To connect the GPON Optical cable:
1. Route the fiber optic cable through the fiber guide.
2. Plug it into the SC/SC socket on the GPLT 4 card.
3. Connect the other cable side to the Optical Splitter.
5.5.4.
Subscriber Copper Connectors and Cables

To connect the copper cables to the CCP:
1. Insert the 78-pin telco connector into the POTS/Subscriber Lines port on the 960E
CCP.
2. Use slot-head 5x150 mm screwdriver to secure the connector.
