Section 3. Installation & Cabling
Preparation for Rack Installation
The installation location should be clean and
dry. The Rectifier Shelf requires a 50cm (20 inches)

minimum clearance at the front and sides. The Rectifier Modules each have a fan that pulls air in
from the front so it should be clear of any obstructions to allow for adequate airflow.
Installation (Pre-Installation, Protective Earthing, AC Input, DC Output)
A)
Elevated Operating Ambient
: If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack, the operating ambient
of the rack may be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consideration should be given to the
Maximum Operating Ambient Temperature. See the Product Safety Label on the DCPS-SHELF-9KW
and Power Derating vs. Temperature graph in Figure 3.
B)
Reduced airflow
: Installation of the equipment in a rack should ensure that the amount of
airflow required for safe operation is not compromised. Installation should allow unrestricted
airflow at the front and rear of the DCPS-SHELF-9KW and NESPACE Rectifier Modules in the shelf.
C)
Mechanical Loading
: Mounting of the equipment in a rack should ensure that a hazardous
condition is not achieved due to uneven loading of the rack.
D)
Circuit Overloading
: Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the
supply circuit and the effect of the overloading of circuits could have on over-current protection
and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used
when addressing this concern. See Product Safety Label on Shelf.
E)
Reliable Earthing
: Reliable earthing or rack-mounted equipment should be maintained.
Particular attention should be given to the supply connections other than direct connections to
the branch (e.g, the use of power strips).
F)
Installation, maintenance, and repair
of the DCPS-SHELF-9KW Rectifier Shelf, and components
within, must be carried out by qualified electrical personnel.
For safety reasons, installing cables for AC input, DC Loads, and/or Battery Backup requires that
no AC input voltage and no Battery (DC) voltage is applied to any of the terminal block positions
until all cables are installed. Proper lockout/tagout procedures should be followed at all times to
ensure safety to any persons in close contact with the DCPS-SHELF-9KW Shelf.
