B INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Only use the product for the purpose for which it was constructed and never burden
it beyond its limits.
: Danger to life
: Risk of injury
: Correct use
The DYNAFIT Crampon Adapter enables the use of automatic climbing irons on
DYNAFIT ski tour boots with a “Speed Nose” (no attachment indent at the front of
the boot). For this purpose, the crampon adapter is attached to the climbing iron.
The climbing irons used with the Dynafit Crampon Adapter must meet Standard EN
893:2010.
Climbing irons from the brands Climbing Technology, Camp, Edelrid, Grivel and
Salewa are compatible if the climbing iron’s front bar can be removed, the adapter
can be assembled as described in these instructions and both the climbing iron and
the adapter need not be changed. Only use compatible climbing irons. Observe the
operating instructions for your climbing irons.
WARNING: Misuse of this tool can lead to severe injury, falls and even death. You must
be aware of this and should only use this tool if you master its correct use.
Assembly is described in ILLUSTRATION B.
1. PRODUCT OVERVIEW
T) Adapter, U) Steel cable, V) Long screw (M4x12), W) Short screw (M4x8), X) Self-
locking nut M4, Y) Washer, Z) Snap ring
2. ASSEMBLY
Observe the corresponding graphs for assembly:
a) Place the ski boot on the climbing iron and push it forwards so that it contacts
the front bar. Angle the bar so that the side attachment connections of the boot are
placed freely accessible in front of the bar of the climbing iron (see Illustration a).
Then mark the position of the tip of the boot on the climbing iron with a line.
b) Remove the boot and lever the front bar out of the anchoring in the climbing iron
(see Illustration b).
c) Position the boot on the previously drawn line on the climbing iron. Then
place adapter “T” on the tip of the boot and establish which of the two adapter
attachment holes matches the hole for attaching the bar to the climbing iron. Check
this on both sides (see Illustration c).
d) Remove the boot. Then attach the adapter to the climbing iron with the longer
“V” screws. Guide the screws from the outside to the inside through the attachment
holes defined under Item c) and screw them on to the inside of the climbing iron
using the self-locking nuts “X”. The packaging includes the necessary tool(s).
ATTENTION: Assembly must not result in a long-term deformation of the adapter “T” as
this may result in a restriction of its function (Illustration d).
e) The screws must at least fully penetrate the respective nuts. The screw and nut
fit closely to the adapter or climbing iron. Ensure that the nut has sufficient contact
surface with the climbing iron and is secure (Illustration e).
f) Check that the lower edge of the adapter is located as close as possible to the
front prong of the climbing iron (see Illustration f).
g) Place the boot on the climbing iron so that the adapter touches the tip of the
boot and surrounds it. Then tension the cable “U” transversely and tightly over the
tip of the boot so that the nuts at the cable ends on both sides respectively tally
with one of the adapter’s stop holes. Note the fitting stop holes (Illustration g).
h) Remove the boot. The cable is then screwed to the defined stop holes. For this
purpose, first place the snap ring “Z” and then washer “Y” on screw “W”. Then
guide the screw with both rings through the selected stop hole on the adapter from
outside and screw it tightly with the nut at the end of the cable which must lie on
the inside of the adapter (see Illustration h). Carry out the same steps on the other
side.
ATTENTION: Make absolutely sure that snap ring “Z” is located between the screw
head and washer “Y” (Illustration h).
i) Only assemble the boot on the climbing iron. Ensure that the cable is properly
tensed and there is no gap between the boot and the cable. Make sure that the
adapter surrounds the tip of the boot properly and touches it at the front. There
must be adequate contact surface between the tip of the boot and adapter “T”,
therefore the latter must not be placed too low. Check that all screws and nuts are
tightened firmly. If necessary, adapt the size of the climbing iron. Ensure that it
closes reliably and is secure (Illustration i).
Climbing irons are only compatible if assembly is possible as described and all the
items under i) are adhered to.

D LIFESPAN
The lifespan of the product is dependent on a number of factors, such as the
manner and frequency of use, UV exposure, moisture, ice, effects of weather,
storage conditions, and dirt (sand, salt, etc.). Under extreme conditions the
lifespan can be reduced to a single usageor even less, if the equipment has suffered
damage (for example during transport) before ever being used.
The potential lifespan of metal products is unlimited, since the effective lifespan
depends on the previously mentioned factors. Salewa recommends replacing these
products after maximum ten years.

to guarantee a safe fit. When they are worn out, replace them exclusively with new
original components from Dynafit.
