3.7.5 Stage 2 Filter
Stage 2 of the filter system is a activated carbon filter.
The substances it is able to filter are listed in the ap-
pendix (pages 24 ff.).
The activated carbon filter works as a main filter pro
-
tected by a particulate filter as a pre-filter (Stage 1)
pursuant to DIN 12927.
3.7.6 Servicing/Replacing the Activated Carbon Filter
The activated carbon filter needs replacing when its
final weight exceeds 130% of its initial weight or, pursu
-
ant to DIN 6022, at least every year. The final weight
has to be checked every 3 months (see Sect. 3.2.7).
The exhaust air monitor indicates (on the 1
st
of a
month) that the check interval expired. Then the filter
has to be weighed and its weight has to be entered
at the exhaust air monitor. This procedure serves as the filter check
mandatory under DIN 12927. A replacement filter has to be purchased
exclusively from the distributor of the exhaust air monitor.
Caution
The filters have to be replaced immediately
• if a filter is broken;
• if a large spill happened (e.g., leaking container);
• if a maximum threshold was exceeded.
3.7.7 Activated Carbon Filter Disposal
The activated carbon filter comes under special/hazardous waste. It has
to be disposed of via a local disposal agent or via the distributor. If the
distributor is involved, return the filter in its original wrapping. Before
returning it, a prior, written confirmation by the distributor is required, so
filter disposal and its documentation can be carefully planned.
Caution
When returning the used filters, observe the instructions by the
transporter and the requirements applicable to the transport of
hazardous goods (ADR). Return shipments that are not properly
documented and labeled will not be received.
