J-MINI PRO MANUAL
5.3
Preparing to Scan
5.3.1
Before You Scan: when scanning either loose or mounted diamonds, the J-Mini
Pro
depends upon light
reflected from the stones.
5.3.2
Select the appropriate tray (supplied) that you want to use for your scan.
•
The Loose Stone Tray has an inscribed alpha-numeric grid so that when you view multiple stones,
you can identify the location of specific diamonds. J-Mini
Pro
can scan and detect either rough or
finished stones.
•
The Mounted Jewelry Tray contains slots for up to five (5) rings. Pendants, earrings, and other
Jewelry can be positioned on this tray for scanning.
5.3.3
Scanning is done by means of an overhead optical system. It is not required that the diamond tables be
strictly horizontal (parallel to the platform), but diamonds set into surfaces (sides or into gallery work)
that are not visible when looking straight down will not be scanned.
Repositioning the jewelry for additional scans may be required.
