Using the BiliLux radiometer (option)
WARNING
Risk of patient injury
Incorrect use of the radiometer may lead to patient injury.

Do not use the BiliLux radiometer as the sole means in making clinical
decisions. It is up to the clinician to determine appropriate means of verifying
that the provided irradiance levels are clinically effective.
►
Use only the BiliLux radiometer to measure the irradiance provided by the
BiliLux phototherapy light. Do not use other manufacturer’s radiometers
because they are not calibrated to the BiliLux.
It is possible to use the same BiliLux radiometer with different BiliLux
phototherapy lights.
Irradiance readings obtained by different manufacturer’s radiometers for the
BiliLux phototherapy light cannot be compared.
Irradiance readings can be impacted by ambient light.
8.4.1
Measuring irradiance

Ensure that the optional radiometer is connected to the receptacle on the rear of
the phototherapy light.

Press the
key until the Radiometer screen is displayed.

To obtain the irradiance measurement, position the radiometer sensor close to
the patient’s skin without touching the patient.
The Radiometer screen displays the current irradiance measurement in units of
µW/cm
2
/nm (A) and allows the user to store the measurement. It also displays the
date, time, and irradiance value of the previously stored measurement (B).
To store the current irradiance measurement, press
Store
button on the radiometer
or the
Store
button (C) on the radiometer screen. The
Last stored:
information (B)
at the bottom of the screen is updated accordingly.
If the radiometer is not connected to the phototherapy light, the irradiance
measurement is displayed as "---", and the
Store
function is not available.
