Operation
8.1.3
Positioning the BiliLux with spring arm and BiliLux with trolley
at a radiant warmer
WARNING
Risk of patient injury and damage to the device
Positioning the phototherapy light under the radiant heat source may block heat
transfer to the patient and may damage the phototherapy light.
►
Do not position the phototherapy light directly in the path of heat rays from the
radiant warmer.
►
If the phototherapy light is positioned directly under a radiant warmer, switch off
the radiant warmer and closely monitor the patient’s temperature.
CAUTION
Risk of injury
The surfaces of the phototherapy light and the spring arm may become hot when
used incorrectly with radiant warmers.
►
Take proper precautions when touching hot surfaces.
1
If the device is equipped with a trolley, adjust the height of the trolley as desired
using the adjustment knob. If equipped with spring arm without trolley, proceed
to step 4.
2
Roll the trolley under the radiant warmer. Keep the distance between the trolley
and the radiant warmer to a minimum.
3
Lock the castors to prevent movement of the trolley.
CAUTION
Risk of injury
Cables or attached accessories may be inadvertently disconnected or otherwise
compromised when adjusting the spring arm.
►
Take care not to compromise cables or accessories when adjusting the spring
arm to the desired position.
4
Adjust the spring arm to the desired height and position.
CAUTION
Risk of injury
The LED panel on the phototherapy light may be hot to the touch.
►
Adjust the phototherapy light only by touching the housing. Do not touch the
LED panel.
5
Position the phototherapy light:
Ensure that the phototherapy light is not positioned in the path of heat rays
from the radiant warmer (Fig 1).
If the phototherapy light is positioned directly under a radiant warmer, for
example when in use with the BiliLux light shield curtain, switch off the
radiant warmer and closely monitor the patient’s temperature (Fig 2).
