Enhancing Picture Quality
DECimage is a tool that allows you to enhance the quality of pictures printed
on Digital’s PostScript printers. The following sections explain:

6.1 Benefits of DECimage
DECimage allows you to do the following:
•
Increase the perceived resolution to provide similar detail found on 800–
1000-dot/inch printers. In graphic arts terms, the detail is equivalent to a
150-line/inch halftone screen.
•
Adjust sharpness of pictures to enhance edges or to soften an image for
special effects.
•
Increase the dot size (for a coarser image) to help make photocopies of
pictures appear clearer.
•
Fix pictures with poor contrast or exposure.
