Table 1: Data Coding Modes
Mode
Description
1 of 4
The value is represented by the position of one pause determined two bits at a
time. Four successive pairs of bits form a byte, where the least significant pair of
bits is transmitted first.
1 of 256
The value of one single byte is represented by the position of one pause. The
position of the pause on 1 of 256 successive time periods of 256 divided by the
carrier frequency determines the value of the byte.
Downlink (Tag to Device)
One or two sub-carriers can be used with ISO 15693 tags and a slow or fast data rate can be
applied. Data rates in relation to the number of sub-carriers are shown in Table 2.
Table 2: Data Rates
Data Rate
Single Sub-carrier
Dual Sub-carrier
Slow
6.62 Kbps (fC/2048)
6.67 Kbps (fC/2032)
Fast
26.48 Kbps (fC/512)
26.69 Kbps (fC/508)
Memory Mapping (Vicc)
ISO 15693 tags memory is organized into fixed size blocks. Up to 256 blocks can be
addressed and each block can consist of up to 32 bytes (256 bits). This provides a maximum
memory size of 8 kilobytes (KB).
You can configure with “Block length” and “Number of blocks” fields the memory
organization of your ISO 15693 tags. If you do not know this memory organization, see
section 9.2.2 to get it.
Application Family Identifier (AFI)
A hexadecimal AFI filter can be selected for any further inventory. See ISO 15693
specification for more information.
Default Read
“Fields to read” defines whether only tag memory or tag memory and UID should be read
during default read process.
The following options are available:
UID Only: Read the UID. The UID will be reported MSB first.
Both memory and UID: Read the UID and memory blocks. The UID (MSB first) and
then memory blocks will be reported sequentially.
First block and Number of blocks: to choose which blocks of tag memory to read during
default read process.
“Number of time slots” list permits you to change the number of time slots used during
default read.
