Encoder Loss Detection

 

 

 

 

Warning

 

Loss  of  the  feedback  sensor  signal  is  potentially  a  very  dangerous 
condition in closed-loop control, because the servo loop no longer has 
any idea what the true physical position of the motor is  – usually it 
thinks it is “stuck” – and it can react wildly, often causing a runaway 
condition. 

The Power Brick Controller has circuitry dedicated to monitoring the presence of a proper feedback signal. 
In addition, it can automatically check these circuits for loss of sensor signal and take appropriate shutdown 
action. This feature supports the following types of encoders:
