Place the heat sink on the processor.
4.
Tighten one of the four screws to secure the heat sink to the system board.
5.
Tighten the screw diagonally opposite to the first screw that you tightened.
NOTE: Do not over-tighten the heat sink retention screws when installing the heat sink. To
prevent over-tightening, tighten the retention screw until resistance is felt. The screw tension
should be not more than 6 in-lb (6.9 cm-kg).
6.
Repeat the procedure for the remaining screws.
Next steps
1.
If removed, reinstall the PCIe expansion card riser.
2.
If disconnected, reconnect the cables to the expansion card(s).
3.
Reinstall the cooling shroud.
4.
If required, open the expansion card latch on the cooling shroud to support the full length expansion
card.
5.
Follow the procedure listed in
After working inside your system

6.
While booting, press <F2> to enter System Setup and check that the processor information matches
the new system configuration.
7.
Run system diagnostics to verify that the new processor operates correctly.
