Managing General System Settings
This chapter describes how to set system information, such as the hostname,
and time settings, and how to select the Switch Database Management
(SDM) template to use on the switch. This chapter also describes how to view
expansion slot information as well as how to configure the operational mode
and Port Aggregator feature.

System Settings Overview
The system settings include the information described in Table 11-1. This
information helps identify the switch.
Table 11-1. System Information
Feature
Description
System Name
The switch name (host name). If you change the system name,
the CLI prompt changes from
console
to the system name.
System contact
Identifies the person to contact for information regarding the
switch.
System location
Identifies the physical location of the switch.
Asset tag
Uniquely identifies the switch. Some organizations use asset tags
to identify, control, and track each piece of equipment.
CLI Banner
Displays a message upon connecting to the switch or logging on
to the switch by using the CLI.
