Flow rate adjustment - Practical test
• Turn on the tractor and equipment (being it coupled to the tractor), without turning on
the spraying circuit;
• Set the gear to correspond the desired working speed;
• Carry out a practical test over 50 or more meters keeping a constant speed, without
activating the equipment. Take a note of the traveled time, as well as the tractor working
acceleration;
• Do the calculation by following the example below:
Example: The time for the tractor to travel 50 meters was 25.7 seconds.
Thus:
VT = Working speed (km/h)
D = Traveled distance (m) = 50 m
t = Time (s) = 25.7 s
3.6 = To convert m/s to km/h
Using the formula:
VT= (D/t) * 3.6
VT = (50/25.7) = 1.94 m/s * 3.6
VT = 7 km/h
The working speed has been defined.
Therefore we have (example):
q = Application nozzle volume (l/ha)
Q = Spray volume (l/ha = 100 l/ha)
V = Working speed = 7 km/h
f = Spacing between rows = 1.5 m
600 = For converting units.
Using the formula:
q = Q x V x f
600
q = 100 x 7 x 1.5
600
q = 1.75 l/m per application
nozzle.
