2. U se im pact w rench or block the crankshaft
to prevent turning and u se suitable socket wrench
and handle to loosen bolt which se c u r e s pulley hub
to crankshaft.
3. Rem ove bolt and thick w asher, then a s s e m
b le sp ec ia l p u ller and center plug in manner shown
in figure 3. Turn p u ller screw to rem ove pulley
hub or damper from crankshaft. A tapered cone
(fig. 4) is used in addition to retain er w asher on
engines having a crankshaft damper a ssem b ly , or
T ilt cab m odels with crankshaft pulley hub.
4. R em ove key from keyway in crankshaft.
INSTALLING PULLEY HUB
OR DAMPER ASSEMBLY
1. Clean s e a l area on crankshaft pulley hub
or damper hub thoroughly and apply engine o il on
su rfa ce contacted by o il se a l.
2. On 637 engine check position of O -rin g sea l
(1, fig. 5) which should be located approxim ately
M” from slin g e r (2, fig. 5) so it w ill r o ll into coun
terb o re in hub a s damper is in stalled .
IMPORTANT: On 637 engines, lu b ricate O-
ring with engine o il.
3. Align keyway in pulley with key in crank
shaft, then sta rt pulley or hub onto front end of
crankshaft. A ssem b le sp ecia l in sta lle r typically
shown in figure 5, and turn nut with w rench to
fo rce pulley firm ly into p lace on crankshaft.
4. Rem ove in sta lle r , then referrin g to figure
4, locate cone (if used) at hub, and in sta ll retain
ing w asher and bolt. Tighten retaining bolt to
"Specifications" at end of th is sectio n .
5. Mount crankshaft pulley on pulley hub or
dam per.

OIL PAN REMOVAL
1. Clean a ll dirt and accum ulated m aterial
from o il pan attaching bolts and drain plug.
2. Drain o il from o il pan.
3. R em ove low er oil pan b olts (14), then r e
m ove low er pan (

4. L oosen upper and low er o il in let tube nuts
