LUBRICATION
CRANKCASE CAPACITIES
C rankcase ca p a cities are for norm al r e fill.
Add o il a s indicated when o il filte r is drained and
elem ent changed. C apacities given may be approx­
im ate - keep le v e l as c lo se a s p o ssib le to "FULL"
m ark without o v e r -fillin g . Do not operate with
le v e l below "ADD" mark, or "LOW" mark.

ENGINE OIL RECOMMENDATIONS
U se only high quality o ils which are intended
for S erv ice D esign ation s "MS" and "DM" (SE/CC
New A .P .I. D esignation) s e e NOTE.
The follow ing additive lim itation s, which r e ­
quire em p h asis, have been placed on the recom ­
mended M IL-L-2104B (now superseded by M IL-L-
46152) and Supplement 1 o ils .
1. Sufficient zinc dithiophosphate to produce
a minimum of 0.07 and a maximum of 0.10 per
cent by weight.
2. Sulfated ash (ASTM D -874) of 1.00 p er cent
m axim um by w eight, except lubricants that contain
only barium d etergen t-d isp ersan ts w here 1.50 per
cent by weight is allow ed.
NOTE: Supplement 1 engine o ils (based upon
now ob soleted M IL-L-2104A) have been su p ersed ed
by M IL -L -2104B engine o ils . H ow ever,Supplem ent
1 engine o ils MS-DM (SE/CC New A .P .I. D e sig ­
nation) , with a h istory of sa tisfa c to ry perform ance
a r e available, and may be used.
The u se of proper engine o ils and o il change
in tervals are your b est assu ra n ce of continued r e ­
lia b ility and perform ance from your engine.
IMPORTANT: N on-detergent and other low er
quality engine o ils are sp ecifica lly not r e c o m ­
mended.

O ils such a s "Aviation Grade Engine O il” or
S.A .E . 50 Heavy Duty Engine O ils may be used.
U se of S.A .E . 30 is recom m ended when tem p era­
ture fa lls below 0°F. instead of 32°F. on page 0-19
of S erv ice Manual ST 135-70.

ce n te r s. Check fluid le v e l every 6,000 m ile s or 4

availab le, DEXRON® A utom atic T ra n sm issio n Fluid
(Symbol S19) may bemused.
