2.1.6.3 Bow and Stern Thruster Battery Charger
The voltage levels of the bow and stern thruster batteries are monitored
and maintained by a single battery charger.
To operate the battery charger:
1. Provide AC power to the boat, from either a shore power source or the
onboard generator. Refer to the
“Shore Power”
or
“Generator
Power”
portion of
Section 3
for more information.
2. On the AC Control Center, switch the Bow Thruster Battery Charger
circuit breaker “ON.” Refer to the
“AC Control Center”
portion of
Section 3
for more information on this circuit breaker. The bow and
stern thruster battery charger now automatically charges the bow and
stern thruster batteries when their voltage drops below a predeter-
mined level.
The bow and stern thruster battery charger is located in the engine room on
the port aft bulkhead. Refer to the
“Engine Room”
portion of
Section 9
for the exact location of this battery charger.
2.1.7 Inverter
The “house” battery charger is also an inverter. Besides being able to charge
the “house” battery, this inverter/battery charger can also convert DC
electricity from the “house” battery to AC electricity on a limited basis.
Whenever AC power is not provided to your boat, the inverter allows you to
operate specific equipment on the boat that requires AC electricity. This
equipment includes the salon entertainment center, galley refrigerator and
freezer, and optional bridge refrigerator or icemaker.
To operate this equipment using the inverter:
1. Turn the inverter master disconnect switch to the “ON” position.
2. Place the ON/OFF switch, located on the side of the inverter, in the
“ON” position.
3. Place the inverter bypass switch, located near the inverter, in the “ON”
position.
4. On the AC Control Center, switch the Inverter/Charger circuit breaker
“ON.” Refer to the
“AC Control Center”
portion of
Section 3
for more
information on this circuit breaker.
5. Also on the AC Control Center, switch the Entertainment Center
Salon, Refrigerator/Freezer, Exterior Refrigerator, and/or Exterior
Icemaker circuit breaker(s) “ON.” Refer to the
“AC Control Center”
