Setting Up a Computer as a File Server
To send data from the machine to a computer on your network, you need to specify
the settings of the computer for receiving data.
This section explains how to set up a computer as a file server.
IMPORTANT
•
To send data from the imageRUNNER 105, imageRUNNER 8500, or imageRUNNER
7200, the Universal Send Expansion Board-A1 (optional) must be installed.
•
This section describes only the procedures for setting up a computer receiving data sent
from the machine. To send data from the machine to a server on the network, you must
enter an address setting from either the control panel or a web browser (Remote UI). For
instructions on specifying recipient address settings from the control panel, see “Chapter
1 Various Sending Methods” in the Sending Function Guide (imageRUNNER 105,
imageRUNNER 8500, imageRUNNER 7200, imageRUNNER 5000i), or “Chapter 1
Various Sending Methods” in the Sending Function/Facsimile Guide (imageRUNNER
3300i). For instructions on using a web browser (Remote UI), see “Chapter 2 Functions
of the Remote UI” in the Remote UI Guide.
•
In some environments, additional detailed settings such as Authority settings may be
required. For details, consult the network manager of the environment you are using.
1
Log on to NetWare as Administrator or as a user of equivalent
authority.
2
Set up the users and passwords for sending data from the
machine.
Up to 24 alphanumeric characters can be entered for both the user name and
password.
3
Create a directory to be used for recipient addresses, and
then enable read access and write access by the users who
will be sending data.
