Connecting the Cables
1. Connect the IEEE1284 (Centronics) cable to the parallel connector on the copier, and
then secure both connectors with the locking clips.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the computer.

Specifying Settings for the Parallel Interface
If necessary, specify the settings for the parallel interface from the copier’s control panel.
1. Press the [Utility] key.
2. Touch [Admin. Management], and then enter the administrator access code.
3. Touch [Admin. 2].
4. Touch [Print Set].
5. Specify settings for the following.
• Parallel Interface: Specify the parallel communication mode. (Compatible/Nibble/
ECP; The default setting is “ECP”.)
• Timeout: Specify the length of time for the reception of print data to time
out. (10 to 300 seconds; The default setting is “300”.)
6. Continue touching [Enter] to return to the Utility screen, and then touch [Exit] to return
to the standby screen (initial screen).

Installing the Printer Driver
* The procedure described below may differ slightly depending on the operating system
being used.
1. From the window displayed on the computer by clicking the [Start] button, pointing to
“Settings”, then clicking “Printers”, start up the Add Printer Wizard, and then click the
[Next] button.
2. In the dialog where the printer connection can be selected, select “Local printer”, and
then click the [Next] button.
3. Select “LPT1” as the printer port, and then click the [Next] button.
4. In the dialog where the manufacturer and model of the printer can be selected, click
the [Have Disk] button.
5. Click the [Browse] button, select the setting file from the appropriate folder on the CD-
ROM, and then click the [OK] button.
6. Select the model of the printer from the printer list, and then click the [Next] button.
7. Specify the printer name, and then specify whether the printer will be the default
printer and whether a test print will be printed.
8. When the [Finish] button is clicked, installation of the driver will begin.
9. When installation is finished, the printer icon is added to the window.

Checking the Operation (Performing a Test Print From a Client Com-
puter)
1. From the window displayed on the computer by clicking the [Start] button, pointing to
“Settings”, then clicking “Printers”, right-click the printer icon, and then click
“Properties”.
2. On the General tab, print the test page.
